Salary: £31,586 – £35,235 annum.  We also have an excellent pension scheme with an employer contribution of 19%.

The HB Policy Officer will undertake a key role within the Housing Benefit Policy and Legislation Team, reporting to the HB Policy & Legislation Assistant Manager. They will assist with the effective operation of Housing Benefit Performance, Administration and Statistical Reporting for the Housing Benefit Department.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

Either:

• Possess a degree or equivalent level qualification plus 2 year’s relevant experience.

OR

• Can demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development/experiential learning and at least 3 years’ relevant experience may be considered. (Please include dates)

2. Can demonstrate significant knowledge of:

• i) The Housing Benefit system (iWorld)
• ii) Current Housing Benefit policies & procedures
• iii) Preparation of reports

3. Can demonstrate relevant experience in each of the following areas:

• i) Experience of working in a customer focused environment with a proven ability of delivering a high standard of customer service.
• ii) Ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
• iii) Successfully managing and prioritising a challenging workload with a wide range of responsibilities.
• iv) Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• v) Excellent planning and organisational skills.
• vi) Experience of producing documents or reports using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
