Job Summary
To assist the Digital and Communications Department in promoting and enhancing the corporate profile of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and the Newry, Mourne and Down area.  To assist with the delivery of the Council’s digital communications and marketing specifically by using the website and social media platforms, taking on the day to day tasks of digital communications, ensuring digital output is increased via new and existing channels.  To actively contribute to the delivery of a full range of Communications, Marketing and Public Relations functions across the Council.

Hours of Work 
36 hours per week.
The post holder must be prepared to work outside normal office hours, including evenings, weekends, and Public and extra Statutory Holidays for which the appropriate payment will be made or time in lieu granted if relevant.

Fixed term contract for 50 weeks commencing 01 September 2025.

Work Pattern
Flexi 36 hours Monday to Friday.
Hours of work are kept under review and may change in order to meet operational requirements, providing requisite notice.

​​​​Location and transferability
Based in Council Offices, Downshire Civic Centre, Downpatrick, this post will work across the Council District of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
Whilst the current vacant post is based in Downpatrick, suitable candidates who are placed on a reserve list may be offered a similar post in other Council locations.
The post holder may be required to transfer to other locations in accordance with any requirements stated in the Job Description, any reviews of service delivery or other requirements as may arise from time to time.  Any amendments made to work location will be implemented following appropriate consultation and provision of reasonable notice.

Scale 1b SCP 3-4 currently £24,027 – £24,404 per annum based on a 36 hour week (pro rata to hours worked).
