Assistant Director – Building Safety

Salary: £78,582 – £88,355 annum.  We also have an excellent pension scheme with an employer contribution of 19%.

To lead the Housing Executive’s approach to Building Safety and successfully manage a team of specialists to deliver building safety* services to the wider organisation.  To ensure regular reviews of our overall compliance approach are carried out and taking the lead on building safety work as new regulation and legislation come into being.

 

*building safety services include the fulfilling of our statutory compliance functions (Gas, Electrical, Asbestos, Legionella, Fire etc) and delivering the outputs of the impending Building Safety Bill to our High Risk Residential Buildings.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

1. Either:

·         i) Possess a minimum of a degree level qualification (level 6) in a relevant subject e.g. construction, fire safety or built environment

OR

  • ii) Can demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development through full professional membership of a recognised professional body appropriate to the role such as Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
  • 2. Have at least 3 years’ relevant experience at senior management* level within construction, fire safety or built environment (Please include dates)

 

*Senior management is defined as responsibility for managing a service or business unit, as a head of function and normally reporting directly to at least an Assistant Director within the organisation.

3. Can demonstrate significant relevant experience in all of the following areas:

  • A) Developing, implementing and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure statutory compliance
  • B) Maximising service outcomes while working within a framework of good governance and accountability
  • C) Delivering significant change and improvement to meet challenging objectives
  • D) Leading a multi-disciplinary team to deliver excellent customer service
